High Temperature Calcined Brown Fused Aluminium Oxide, also called Bluefire Brown Fused Aluminium Oxide due to its light blue color after being treated by heat. It has a very small expansion coefficient, excellent hydrophilicity, high resistance, and high strength. The sintered grinding tools made from it have the characteristics of dark blue color after firing, no network cracks, and no rust spots. There is an essential program in the process of processing and producing brown fused alumina, which is calcination. So what are the advantages of high-temperature calcination of brown fused aluminium oxide?

1. Eliminated abnormal swelling
Because during the training process of fused corundum, it contains low priced oxide (Ti203, Ti0), carbide (TiC, TiN), and nitride (TiC, TiN). When calcined in an oxidation atmosphere between 900 ℃ and 1000 ℃, they will further oxidize and increase in volume, causing the volume change of brown fused alumina to exceed its normal expansion, which is abnormal expansion. The abnormal expansion of brown fused alumina can lead to network cracks on the surface of brown fused alumina ceramic grinding wheels during firing, which can form many waste products. Choosing satin firing treatment is a useful method to eliminate the abnormal expansion of brown fused aluminium oxide.

2. Durability and Grinding Function
The study found that this is because during the satin firing process, the TI3+, which is primarily fused in the corundum crystal, is oxidized, causing lattice shortening and improving its compressive strength. Secondly, satin firing also compensates for the internal stress formed during the granulation process. Therefore, various grinding tools produced from satin fired brown fused alumina are not only durable but also sharp, increasing the grinding function of the grinding tools.

3. Increased hydrophilicity
After being burned at 800-900 ℃ for 120 minutes, the hydrophilicity of brown fused aluminium oxide has increased by 3.5 times. Research has found that this is due to the removal of impurities such as volatile matter on the surface, the burning of low melting point substances, and the increase in surface capillary phenomenon. Brown fused alumina with good hydrophilicity can be used for coating abrasive tools, and its durability can be increased by 30-50%.

4. Improved the strength of the grinding tool
The calcined brown fused aluminium oxide removes impurities such as volatiles on the surface of the corundum, improving its purity and cleanliness. Therefore, during the manufacturing of grinding tools, the bonding force between abrasive particles and binders is increased, reducing the amount of breaking agent and improving the strength of the grinding tools.

5. Improved appearance and cutting of grinding tools
After the brown fused aluminium oxide satin firing treatment, the brown fused alumina is easily separated by magnetic separation due to the swelling and cracking of the iron coated corundum abrasive particles, which reduces the magnetic content of the brown fused alumina and eliminates rust spots when firing the grinding tool. This improves the appearance and cutting of the grinding tool
